Artist in Conversation Series price $60.00 for all three events.

One of the most celebrated Canadian roots musicians of all time, having sold 500,000 plus albums, Ashley has  garnered international acclaim with hard-nosed, traditional Cape-Breton style, while adding his own spin, mixing genres and updating Celtic music to appeal to a broader spectrum of fans. Much has been said about the antics of the enfant terrible of the Fiddle, but only because he has had international success and notoriety from an early age.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS IN CONVERSATION SERIES

An up close and personal encounter with 3 of Canada’s distinguished artists.  Each night will include them telling the story of their careers with the use of video, still photos, readings and/or an interview segment with host, Cameron Smillie.  Each night will feature an extra element such as sharing a personal memento or a musical surprise. And, each evening will offer a chance for a question period - all in an informal setting in the main lobby of the Sanderson Centre. Meet these stars up close.

Carl Dixon

Main Lobby Thu Feb 21 8:00 PM

Carl Dixon is one of Canada’s stellar rock musicians. His first international record deal came with Coney Hatch in the 1980s. Big tours, radio hits, MTV, "the big time" all came with that. Carl then went on to perform with some of Canada’s most iconic bands. Two different hitches as lead singer of the Guess Who bookended a four-year stint playing with April Wine.  In 2008 Carl’s life was nearly cut short. He barely survived a shocking head on car accident in Australia while on a break from touring with The Guess Who.
